Update: March 31, 2020

You may need to work from home during the COVID-19 crisis, but your current PLA Seat license does not allow remote access? As part of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we now offer you a temporary license in addition to your Seat license, free of charge. The temporary license will expire on May 31, 2020.

This offer covers PLA versions 3.0, 2.1, and 2.0 build 552 or higher.

What you need to do

PLA licenses are based on protection keys. A protection key uniquely identifies the computer to which PLA is licensed. To use the temporary license, you have to install an additional protection key. The required steps depend on your PLA version and on whether you can remotely access your company network. Please find instructions for the various scenarios below.

Please note: Temporarily adding a license does not affect the five-digit serial number associated with your license. The license keys of your PLA installation (activation and feature keys) remain activated.

With remote access

Please note: If you use both PLA 3.0 and PLA 2.x, follow the instructions for PLA 2.x

PLA 3.0

Required steps: Download the PLA License System setup. Use the transfer license function to create a recipient information (.id) file on the computer which currently holds the license and send it to us. You will receive a license transfer (.h2h) that you have to apply to the computer running PLA 3.0.

More information:

  • On the computer running PLA 3.0, collect recipient information and apply the license transfer file you receive from us: How to install an additional license

Please note: This video shows how to transfer a license between computers in your network. To install an additional license, complete only step 1 and 3.

PLA 2.x

Please note: Due to technical restrictions, you cannot install the additional license on the computer that is running PLA 2.x. You have to install the license on a license server or a computer in your network that acts as a license server.

To pick a system as a license server you might need to contact your local IT administrator. The temporary license server may be a virtual computer.

Required steps: Download the PLA License System setup. Use the transfer license function on the designated license server to create a recipient information (.id) file and send it to us. You will receive a license transfer (.h2h) that you have to apply to the license server.

More information:
